Akshay Kumar Reacts To Mahakal Chalo Song Controversy Of Him Hugging Shivling; Says, “Meri Bhakti Ko Koi Galat Samjhe Toh …”

Akshay Kumar is all set to rule Kannapaa as Lord Shiva. This is the second time after OMG 2 that he will be portraying God. During an event of Kannapaa in Mumbai, Akshay Kumar responded to the ongoing Mahakal Chalo song controversy where he was seen hugging the Shivling.

Akshay Kumar REACTS To Mahakal Song Controversy

During the teaser launch of Kannapaa, Akshay Kumar reacted to the ongoing controversy over his song Mahakal Chalo. The priest association objected to a scene in the song where the actor can be seen hugging Lord Shiva’s idol. When asked about this controversy, Akshay said, “Jaise Maine kaha ki aap sab bataaiye. Humme bachpan yeh sikhayagaya hai ki bhagwaan humaare mata pita hai. Agar aap unko pyaar se hug karte hai toh isme kya buraai hai?”

Continuing, the actor questioned the audience “Koi buraai hai?” To this, the audience responded by saying “Nahi”. Adding, “Toh isme buraai kya hua? Meri agar shakti agar wahan see aati hai toh meri bhakti ko koi galat samjh toh isme mera koi kasur nahi raha. That’s it”

Vishnu Manchu On Mahakal Chalo Song Controversy

Vishnu Manchu, who is playing the role of Kannapaa in the film also commented. He said, “I wanted to add to what Akshay was saying. When we came to know about the controversy, the song was a fantastic song. In the film Kannapaa, he hugs Lord Shiva’s linga. And when you go to the temple, he offers meat to Lord Shiva. In the town of Shrikalahasti, in the temple, you will see the foot of Kannappa on Lord Shiva. In the story, the way he worships Lord Shiva is that he pours water in his mouth and spits it on Lord Shiva, to clean it.”

Vishnu added, “As long as your heart is pure, devotion is pure, the rituals are not necessary is what the movie tells. The same thing, I felt divine when he was hugging it. I feel connected.” Concluding the actor said, “With due respect to the Priest Association, I don’t know them personally. But the way we worship is very pure. In the movie, I wrote the characters as how I saw my mom and dad. I recall their cute banter and have implemented it in the movie. And like he said, as long as we take them as our parents, there is no mistake in the way we worship them.”
